Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central sector scheme launched by the Government of India to provide income support to landholding farmer families across the country. The scheme was announced in February 2019 and implemented with effect from December 1, 2018.

Objective
The scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of farmers for procuring various inputs related to agriculture, allied activities and domestic needs, thereby ensuring proper crop health and appropriate yields.

Who Can Apply
- All landholding farmer families who own cultivable land
- Both small and marginal farmers (up to 2 hectares) and large farmers
- Indian citizens only
- Family includes husband, wife, and minor children
- Land ownership as per State/UT land records
- Valid Aadhaar number is mandatory
- Bank account linked to Aadhaar
- Valid mobile number
Who Cannot Apply (Exclusions)
- ✗Institutional landholders
- ✗Farmer families where one or more members is a current/former holder of constitutional posts
- ✗Current/former Ministers at State or Central level
- ✗Current/former Members of Parliament (MP), Legislative Assembly (MLA), or Legislative Council (MLC)
- ✗Current/former Chairpersons of District Panchayats
- ✗Current/former Mayors of Municipal Corporations
- ✗All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State Government (Excluding Multi-Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D employees)
- ✗All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State PSUs and Government Autonomous bodies (Excluding Multi-Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D employees)
- ✗All superannuated/retired pensioners receiving pension of ₹10,000 or more per month (Excluding Multi-Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D employees)
- ✗Professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and architects registered with professional bodies
- ✗Income tax payers in the previous assessment year
- ✗Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) as per Income Tax Act, 1961
Online Registration
- 1.Visit the official PM-KISAN website: pmkisan.gov.in
- 2.Click on 'Farmers Corner' on the homepage
- 3.Select 'New Farmer Registration'
- 4.Choose your registration type (Rural/Urban)
- 5.Enter your Aadhaar number and mobile number
- 6.Click 'Get OTP' - OTP will be sent to registered mobile number
- 7.Enter the OTP received and verify
- 8.Fill in required details: Name, Gender, Caste, Bank Account, IFSC Code
- 9.Upload necessary documents (Aadhaar, land records, bank passbook)
- 10.Submit the application
- 11.Note down the registration number for future reference
- 12.Complete Aadhaar authentication/eKYC (mandatory)
Offline Registration
- 1.Visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC)
- 2.Approach your local revenue officer (Patwari/Kanungo/Village Officer)
- 3.Contact State nodal officers
- 4.Carry all required documents
- 5.Fill the registration form with officer's assistance
- 6.Complete Aadhaar authentication
- 7.Collect acknowledgment receipt with registration number
